Lead Free-Cutting steels (SAE12L13, 12L14) are widely used in various industries including Automotive. These steels are used in large quantities for producing machined parts, such as transmission oil hydraulic control valves, oil hydraulic hose connectors and printer shafts.

Although the hazardous impacts of Lead(Pb) on the environment are well known, no practical alternatives currently exist. Rephosphorized and resulfurized materials (SAE 1211, 1212, 1213) and resulfurized materials (SAE 1117, 1118, and 1119) are lead free, but they do not have a good enough machinability to commercialize its value.

It has a high level of machinability that performs the same as leaded free cutting steel. This ensures an extended tool life that reaches 90%~120% of leaded free cutting steel.
